Thinking Traps

Thinking traps refer to patterns of thinking that are false or inaccurate and contribute to distress. They often distort our perception of reality and can lead to negative emotions and behaviors. Here are some common thinking traps:

Catastrophizing 🌪️

When we catastrophize, we see situations as catastrophes or disasters we can't cope with. This thinking trap can lead to unnecessary stress and anxiety, as we often exaggerate the potential negative outcomes of a situation.

Mind Reading 🔮

Mind reading is a thinking trap where we think others think poorly of us, but we don't base that on any facts. While intuition can sometimes help us navigate social situations, assuming negative thoughts from others without evidence can cause significant distress.

Fortune Telling 🎱

Fortune telling involves making negative predictions about the future that we think are true, but are based on little evidence. This thinking trap can lead to feelings of hopelessness and fear, as we convince ourselves of negative outcomes before they happen.
